All questions are routed to a group of noted scholars either in the United States or Scotland, one of which will be assigned to the task of giving you the information you seek. This person is assigned to you, because your question lies in the area of that researcher's expertise.

Most of the services provided by the Institute are free. A nominal fee may be charged when a researcher must spend an unusual amount of time in obtaining additional material and then preparing that material in a written report.
It may be necessary to contact you in order for us to clarify your question or if additional information must be exchanged.
Please Note:
The Scottish Heritage Institute is not, primarily, a genealogical research source. All genealogical questions will be accepted on a limited basis, as strict genealogical criteria must be maintained. Any research that requires data on the Scottish General Registry mainframe for Old Parish Records will be assessed the maximum fee of the current mainframe access charge.
